L.I.F.E. Teams
This year our mission to Kenya will see us bring L.I.F.E. Teams to minister to people in four ways.
First we will be bringing medical supplies and equipment and come along side several nursing clinics. One in a small town called Fafarol, in the Rift Valley near Matunda Kenya. There we will be joined by a Doctor from Matunda and help widows and orphans of the village to much needed medical services. As you can see their clinic was a little bare when I was there last year. (What you see is about all they had).
The town is quite a distance from the nearest major medical facility and so this little clinic can be a life saver in an emergency.
A second clinic opportunity has been presented to us in the small village called Nzoia, Transzoia, Kenya. It's about an hour and half down a very bumpy road from Kitale. Here are a few pictures of the church and school we'll come along side of and help where we can.

We also have other clinics being worked on and will post details as the Doctor's come on board from Kenya in those areas.
In week three we will go and help at two more medical clinics one in Busia, and the second in Nambale. For these clinics we'll join in with nurses and the folks from Busia Gospel Centre and help once again with the widows and orphans and those who can scarcely afford to eat never mind seek medical advice. We will also visit and minister in a orphanage with http://orphansandwidowsofafrica.org
In each of these clinics funds will be needed to help with medical expenses, prescriptions and transportation. Sometimes for basic needs like food, clothing and water. Can you help?
While in Busia we'll come along side of Pastor Mary and the leadership Team at Busia Gospel Centre as they minister to many needy folks showing love in action.
And we'll bring as much Gleaners soup mix for those struggling with HIV and malnourishment, as funds allow. Last time we are told, the soup mix made the difference between being able to take their antivirals or not.
Second Throughout the month of April and into May Pastors Blake and Gail will be preaching and teaching at churches along the way. Reminding God's children in Kenya that His call is personal as well as corporate. Loving Intentionally For Eternity is a personal call that God has placed on everyone's heart not just those who go and serve but right where you are.
Third We will be invovled in a couple of building projects as funds and time allow. First on the list is to build a multipurpose office / classroom on to a church in Matunda. This church and Pastor Kimotho are actively involved with the churches of the area bringing teams like ours to help the most needy of the area as well as to facilitate leadership development. The addition will help provide extra classroom space and office facilities so that future leaders can grow and learn to serve their communities. This project is projected to cost between $1000-$2000 cdn as they already blocks and some of the building materials.
This church is in desperate need of a new roof and some windows. Again if funds permit we'd like to help out.
Churches are often used for the whole community in support of many activities in this culture. Including some of the medical clinics that come through.
If we raise enough funds we hope to also raise a roof on a church in Masai Land...click on the picture below to see how far they have come. Though the average working Masai makes less than a dollar a day these good folks have almost completed the building but still need a little more help. Buildings like these become the central hub in the community especially during the rainy season. They are instrumental in raising the literacy rates in communities and help in the prevention of diseases like Aids / Hiv through community forums.

What does it cost you ask to raise a roof?
a) Truss preparation 3,000 Ksh
b) Truss fixing 3,000 Ksh
c) Timber (3”x2”) 380’X 25Ksh per foot 95,000 Ksh
d) Timber (4”x4”) x 120’ by 27Ksh per roof 32,400 Ksh
e) Iron sheets (G30) 3m 800Ksh X 120 Pieces 96,000 Ksh
What's that in Cdn? About $ 3000.00- $4,000.00
During the week when we are not involved with medical clinics the bulk of our time on the ground will be spent helping with PureLoveNow ministries of Grace and Social Justice in Kitale and area, sharing the good news and teaching practical non-violent ways that the youth can be agents of change in their own community. Here is their website:
This Mission Trip we are asking each participant to raise a minimum of $3000 to cover airfare and ground expenses. But we'll need more than this to effectively minister in these very poor villages. Can you help by praying and giving as God prompts your heart?
